LitVM dApps — in your wallet.
FEATURE
LitVM dApps — in your wallet.
Litecoin is becoming a smart contract chain. LitVM brings EVM-compatible dApps and LTC-20 tokens to Litecoin. Lite Wallet connects you without bridging, wrapping, or switching wallets.
LitVM (Litecoin Virtual Machine) is the emerging smart contract layer on Litecoin that enables EVM-compatible applications to run alongside the standard Litecoin chain. Lite Wallet integrates with LitVM for dApp connection, LTC-20 token holdings, and Litecoin Ordinals inscriptions. Users can interact with Litecoin DeFi protocols from the same wallet that holds their LTC, without switching to a separate wallet or bridging assets to another chain.
What is LitVM?
Smart contracts, natively on Litecoin
LitVM is a virtual machine layer that runs smart contracts alongside the main Litecoin chain. It targets EVM compatibility, which means contracts written for Ethereum can be ported and deployed on Litecoin with minimal changes. Gas is paid in LTC. The VM state commits back to the Litecoin chain for security.
Why it matters
For years, the gap between Litecoin and smart-contract chains was the reason many DeFi users kept their LTC as long-term store-of-value and used a separate chain for DeFi. LitVM collapses that gap. The same LTC that sat in cold storage can now interact with lending protocols, swaps, and NFTs on Litecoin itself.
Ecosystem status
LitVM is an evolving layer — the dApp catalogue is growing, and not every Ethereum-style contract is ported yet. The /guides/litvm reference tracks current LitVM status, notable dApps, and known limitations.
Connecting to a LitVM dApp
Open the dApp in your browser
LitVM dApps run in the browser like Ethereum dApps. Navigate to the dApp's URL.
Choose Lite Wallet as the wallet
In the dApp's connect dialog, select Lite Wallet (the browser extension or mobile WalletConnect equivalent). Approve the connection in LiteWallet.
Sign transactions as prompted
The dApp sends transaction requests; Lite Wallet displays them with full details — destination contract, method, parameters, and the LTC gas cost. Approve or reject on your device.
See LTC-20 balances
Once connected, Lite Wallet displays any LTC-20 token balances associated with your LitVM address. Send, receive, and interact with tokens from the wallet directly.
LTC-20 tokens
LTC-20 is the token standard for LitVM, analogous to ERC-20 on Ethereum. An LTC-20 token is a smart contract on LitVM that tracks balances and allows transfers. Lite Wallet detects LTC-20 tokens associated with your address automatically and lists them in your portfolio view alongside your native LTC balance. Sending LTC-20 tokens uses the same signing flow as any LitVM transaction. For tokens Lite Wallet doesn't detect automatically, you can add the contract address manually from your portfolio screen.
