Lite Wallet vs Edge Wallet

COMPARISON

Lite Wallet vs Edge Wallet

Both put privacy first. Edge is mobile-only multicoin with Edge Login (username/password). Lite Wallet covers every platform, uses standard BIP-39 paper keys, and ships MWEB. Two different paths to the same goal.

Edge Wallet is a mobile-first multicoin non-custodial wallet with a deliberate privacy focus — client-side encryption, a custom Edge Login system instead of a raw seed phrase, and a long track record since 2014 (formerly known as Airbitz). Edge supports 100+ cryptocurrencies on iOS and Android. Lite Wallet is Litecoin-focused with MWEB, Ledger/Trezor integration, and a BIP-39 12-word paper-key recovery. Both wallets prioritize privacy — they differ in product focus and recovery model.

Recovery models compared

Lite Wallet uses the industry-standard BIP-39 12-word phrase. Write it down, store it offline, restore from it on any BIP-39-compatible wallet. Edge Wallet uses Edge Login — a username and password that derive encryption for a cloud-stored encrypted wallet file. Edge never sees your password; the encryption happens client-side. Recovery from Edge Login is convenient (no paper key to lose) but depends on Edge's infrastructure being available. Edge Wallet also exposes the underlying BIP-39 phrase for users who want to back up the traditional way. For strict self-sovereignty, BIP-39 paper key has no infrastructure dependency; for convenience and recovery from 'I lost my phone', Edge Login's username/password model is practical.
