Troubleshooting

Most Lite Wallet issues have quick fixes. Here's the categorized playbook — transactions, sync, hardware wallets, and install. If none of these solve it, file a GitHub issue.

This page covers common Lite Wallet issues and their fixes. Most problems fall into four categories: transaction issues (stuck, missing, wrong amount), sync issues (not loading, stale balance), hardware wallet connection problems, and installation/update issues. For issues not covered here, file a GitHub issue on the Lite Wallet repository — response times vary but the maintainer community is active.

Transaction issues

Check the transaction on a block explorer — paste its TXID into Blockcypher.com/ltc. If it's confirmed on the explorer, Lite Wallet will update soon; refresh the app. If unconfirmed, Litecoin's low base fee means it should clear within 30 minutes in normal conditions. For long delays: if your transaction was sent with Replace-By-Fee enabled, use 'Bump fee' in Lite Wallet to re-send at a higher fee. If RBF wasn't enabled, wait for mempool eviction (72 hours on most nodes) or rebuild the transaction.

Sync issues

Most common cause: network issue. Check your internet connection. Open Lite Wallet's Settings → Network. Toggle 'Reset SPV peers' — this disconnects from current peers and reconnects to fresh ones. On Tor routing: Tor syncs are slower (20-50% longer); this is expected, not a bug. If sync has been stuck for 10+ minutes on a good connection, restart the app.

Hardware wallet issues

Check the USB cable — many cables are charge-only with no data connection; you need a data cable. Update your hardware wallet firmware (via Ledger Live or Trezor Suite) to the latest version. On Ledger, ensure the Litecoin app is installed via Ledger Live. Close other apps that might be using the device (Ledger Live itself, browser extensions). Restart Lite Wallet and the device.

Install and update issues

Windows SmartScreen warns on newly-released signed binaries until reputation is established. Lite Wallet binaries are signed by the Lite Wallet organization — verify the publisher name matches. For confidence, verify the publisher name on the file properties matches LiteWallet.

Paper key recovery

Install Lite Wallet on a new device (phone or desktop). At first launch, choose 'Restore from paper key'. Enter your 12 words in order. Lite Wallet re-derives your wallet from the paper key and scans Litecoin's chain for your balance. Full balance appears. You don't need the old device.

Get help

If your issue isn't covered here, the Lite Wallet GitHub repository is the primary support channel. File a new issue with: your Lite Wallet version, your operating system and OS version, a description of the problem, and steps to reproduce. Include screenshots or transaction TXIDs where relevant, but never share your paper key — no legitimate support person will ever ask for it. Anyone asking for your paper key is a scammer. The GitHub URL is on the /about page and the footer of every page on litewallet.dev.
