Recover your Lite Wallet
Recover your Lite Wallet
Your funds live on the Litecoin blockchain, not on a Lite Wallet server. Your 12-word paper key rebuilds the wallet on any device in minutes.
Lite Wallet recovery uses a 12-word paper key generated on first run. The paper key derives every private key, standard Litecoin address, and MWEB view/spend key for the wallet. Restoring a Lite Wallet on any supported platform — Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android — requires only the 12 words; the wallet reconstructs balances from the Litecoin blockchain. The paper key is the single recovery path — Lite Wallet has no account system, no custodial backup, and no password reset.
Quick steps
The full recovery takes under five minutes on a stable connection.
Install Lite Wallet
Download Lite Wallet for your platform from the download page. Run the installer or install from the App Store / Google Play.
Choose 'Restore existing wallet'
On first launch, skip the 'Create new wallet' option. Select the restore path instead.
Enter your 12 words
Type each word in the correct order. Lite Wallet validates against the standard BIP-39 wordlist — typos are caught immediately.
Set a device passcode
Pick a passcode or enable biometric unlock. This locks the wallet at rest on this device; it is not part of the paper key and is not recoverable.
Wait for balances to sync
Lite Wallet scans the Litecoin blockchain for addresses derived from your paper key. First sync takes a few minutes; subsequent launches are instant.
Desktop restore (Windows, macOS, Linux)
Start fresh on the same or a new machine
Install the current Lite Wallet desktop build from the download page. Launch the app. On the welcome screen, click 'I already have a wallet'. Enter your 12-word paper key in order. Lite Wallet rebuilds the wallet database locally; you set a new device passcode for this machine.
Keep the paper key offline
The paper key should never be typed into a browser, messaged through chat, stored in a password manager as a single field, or photographed on a device that syncs to cloud storage. Any system that handles the 12 words controls the wallet.
Mobile restore (iOS, Android)
From the App Store or Google Play
Install Lite Wallet from the App Store or Google Play on your new phone. Open the app. Tap 'Restore wallet'. Enter the 12 words from your paper key. Set a local passcode and enable biometric unlock — both are device-specific and not part of the paper key.
Moving from desktop to mobile
The same 12-word paper key restores on mobile too. Your desktop wallet and mobile wallet derive from the same key and show the same balance on the same Litecoin addresses. They stay in sync through the blockchain, not through an account.
