Litecoin hardware wallet compatibility
Ledger and Trezor support for Litecoin has a few real gaps worth knowing before you rely on it — here's what currently works, what doesn't yet, and a compatibility issue affecting Electrum-LTC users specifically.
What works today
Both Ledger and Trezor support standard Litecoin transactions with on-device signing — you approve the transaction on the physical device screen, and the private key never leaves it. This is the well-established, reliable core of Litecoin hardware wallet support across the ecosystem. Where compatibility gets more situational is confidential MWEB transactions, LitVM smart-contract interactions, and mobile pairing — coverage for these varies by wallet and is still developing across the ecosystem generally, not just in any one wallet.
Hardware wallets in Lite Wallet
Desktop: on-device signing for standard transactions
On Windows, macOS, and Linux, Ledger and Trezor support is built into the main Lite Wallet app — not a separate 'hardware edition' — and signs standard Litecoin transactions on-device.
MWEB and LitVM: desktop signing only, for now
Hardware-wallet signing for MWEB peg-in/peg-out and LitVM transactions is not yet supported in v3.16.0; those transaction types currently require desktop-signed LTC rather than on-device hardware confirmation. This is on the roadmap.
Mobile: watch-only import, not direct pairing
iOS and Android don't yet support direct USB-C or Bluetooth hardware wallet pairing. Mobile users who want cold-key involvement can import a watch-only public key (xpub) to track balances on the go and complete signing from a desktop Lite Wallet connected to the hardware device.
Known issue: Electrum-LTC and newer Ledger apps
Separately from Lite Wallet, users of the third-party Electrum-LTC client have reported that updating the Ledger Litecoin app to version 2.4.10 or later breaks the ability to open an existing Ledger wallet in Electrum-LTC, with errors like 'error getting device infos' or 'Invalid status 6f00'. This is a compatibility issue between two other pieces of software, not something Lite Wallet is affected by or able to fix. If you hit this specifically in Electrum-LTC, check that project's official GitHub issue tracker for the current status before installing anything described as an unofficial fix — verify authenticity carefully, since 'unofficial wallet software fix' is exactly the kind of description scammers use for malicious downloads.
